Celebrating Barry Conklin

In Memory Of Barry Glenn Conklin

Barry Glenn Conklin, age 92, died on October 10, 2021. Barry was born in Ohio on September 1, 1929 to Frank and Bessie Conklin. He traveled the world as part of the U.S. military before settling down in the Denver, Colorado area. Barry is survived by his children Glenn, Helen, Susie, Jeannie, Becky, and Cathy and his brother Jack Conklin. Barry is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret (Maggie) Hume Conklin.

An avid and accomplished photographer, Barry shared his great love of the outdoors with his children, with many childhood years spent hiking, camping, sailing, and star gazing. A true Renaissance man, Barry was self-educated and had many passions spanning classical music, the arts, and sciences. An electrical engineer by profession, Barry could deftly navigate a complex conversation on physics or an existential debate on philosophy, only to end the discussion with a Milton Berle joke or two. Barry’s library, including his joke books, are a cherished part of his legacy as are his love of learning, his sharp wit, and his proud military service.

An honorable U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Berlin Airlift veteran, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather — Barry is much loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
